St Patrick’s Primary Waste Stories

The stories displayed below were created by pupils from St Patrick’s Primary School, Glasgow, during a story-making workshop that took place on Friday, 30th September 2022 as part of the University of Glasgow’s ARCadia festival.

We took along a selection of objects and photos that we’d collected in the first year or so of the project, from all over Scotland from the Rhinns of Galloway, to the Trossachs, up to the Orkney Islands and back down to Fife, Edinburgh and the eastern Borders. As the pupils from St Patrick’s demonstrated, far from being a bit of junk that could be tossed aside as useless, every object and photo was a treasure trove of stories.

These amazing stories show that even in a single, short session, young people can quicly turn trash into treasure, and stop something from being discarded and wasted. We are looking forward to having the opportunity to learn more from the pupils of St Patrick’s!
